Just came across a very comprehensive book on Colour Therapy called Colour Healing by Lilian Verner Bonds. It talks about how colour can be used for physical, psychological and spiritual well bieng. In a time when it is way too expensive to be sick, this might be a great guide to self- healing. Although, I must say that when I spent back breaking hours on the internet to find an authentic organisation or institution that gave a certificate for a course in Colour Therapy, I found one that said that if you're not sufficiently trained, you could get sick in self-healing - though I don't buy that! Its like Reiki - it stands as a complimentary therapy and has no side effects.
This one talks about the scientific basis of colour frequencies to the Psychology of Colour, to Colour in the Environment - includes homes, office spaces, hospitals etc and even healing relationships through colour and well as colour and children. It also has a list of Colour healing techniques like using gem stones, candles, dowsing etc. Theres also a list of ailments and which colour should be applied to the corresponding body part. If you're a colour science buff, believe me, this is by far the most complete book on it. Trust me, I've been looking for one for several years.

Hi Jenny,
I agree it is hard to find courses in Colour Therapy! This is mostly due to the accreditation system that exists in most countries and the expense and restrictions that are involved in getting a course qualified (but it will eventually happen). I spent 5 years teaching Colour Therapy here in Australia. Colour can be a very profound method for healing and is effective on many levels. Scientists are starting to explore the ways that coloured light can effect us and are coming up with some great results! There is a link to my website on my blog which can direct you to some more resources!
Hi Leanne, nice to meet you!
Where did you study Color Therapy? I wrote to an organisation called Tama Do. Its run by a Frenchman with courses in NYC an south of France- they're expensive! But of all the courses i found on the net, this one seemed authentic....
When I wrote to them, though, they said I shouldn't try Color Therapy on myself or I might get sick! Funny, I thought it was like Reiki - not particularly harmful!
Anyways, I have been making healing art for quite sometime now. Take a look- http://www.jennybhatt.com
Hi Jenny,
I am in Australia and as yet there is no officially registered Colour Therapy training. Although having said that I think someone in W.A has something that might be accredited. I was taught Colour Therapy firstly by a lady who had studied with Theo Gimbel in England. I then went on to complete 4 levels of Aura soma training which I have found to be amazing.Aura soma has spread throughout the world and has a 'governing body'called A.S.I.A.C.T.
Based in the U.K also. I have a Colour Therapy light that is produced in Switzerland. It is called a Bioptron. I use this along with the manual that it came with and combine it with the teachings of Dinshah Ghadiali. His work has been condensed by his son, Darius Dinshah, into a great book called 'Let there be Light'. This book prescribes many Coloured light treatments for all sorts of conditions. I guess I have pulled together from many different teachers!I'm going to go check out your website now! Cheers!
Just to add a bit more. I don't know about the 'getting sick' bit! Colour certainly can have a profound effect but as yet I have never seen it cause sickness. Colour works to create balance!
O.k Jenny I have just had a look at your artwork and your website. Your use of colour is enthralling, captivating and inspiring. There are so many avenues to take that include 'colour therapy. Have you thought of including Art Therapist as well as Colour Therapist to your resume? What you do is fabulous!! Your paintings are therapy to look at!
Thanks for the compliments, Leanne.
I did a lot of Research / reading of my own to create paintings that healed through colour- it was very important for me to do that on a personal level and as an artist because it was important for me to put positive energy in people's spaces.
I did think about Art Therapy and looked up some degrees offered for the same. Most describe Art Therapists as people who work with abnormal psychology - in hospitals or psychiatrists' clinics. I'm not sure I can deal with other people's psychological trauma for so many hours a day and then for years on end!
I did however, find that Colour Therapy had a more positive outlook, and that its application was much wider and in positive directions, so I keep looking into it. Though I have to admit that the art world in India is highly skeptical about such things due to their own ignorance. I'm hoping its just a matter of time....

Hi Leanne, I looked up the Aura Soma / ASIACT site. It seems more comprehensive than the ones I've seen before. Though, two things bother me - one is that the Student agreement discourages offering consultations for a fee and the other is that one page says that Aura Soma cannot cure diseases and another says that it works a vibrational therapy.
Also, the reader cannot tell if the courses are taught for a fee or not.
More later,
Jenny
Hi Jenny,
Sorry it has taken a while for me to get back to you.I have been away visiting my sister!
You may not offer consultations in Aura Soma until after you have done level two, ideally at level three!
As far as the disclaimer about healing physical conditions....unfortunately this disclaimer has to be in place due to regulations about 'alternative therapies' This does not mean that miracles haven't happened...
The courses are taught for a fee and this fee will probably differ in different parts of the world. You would need to email ASIACT to get more information.
Colour Therapy is classed as a vibrational therapy along with other therapies such as Bach Flowers, Aromatherapy etc.
Cheers!
